Music theory teaches you the main principles of music and helps you appreciate what you are doing with your musical instrument or voice. It will also help you advance you other skills more quickly. When you take up music lessons, take music theory too, write the exams and get the qualifications. You will certainly not regret it, and it will make you a far better musician.
